Associate regulation plan ‘does not address the reality of patient care’

Doctors have reacted to the long-awaited publication of the General Medical Council’s regulating associates consultation report, which unveiled negative feedback towards its proposals.

The report, published on Thursday 5 December, was based on a questionnaire the GMC ran between March and May canvassing opinion from doctors, physician associates, anaesthesia associates, other healthcare professionals, medical organisations and patients on how to regulate the associate roles within the NHS.
