As politicians grapple with a bill that would allow terminally ill patients to end their own lives, we consider what the legislation could mean for doctors’ involvement in the process.

Backbench Labour MP Kim Leadbeater has introduced the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill – referred to as an assisted dying bill - which would enable eligible patients to seek assistance to end their life, with a prominent role for doctors.
