The former head of NICE will lead an independent review into how physician and anaesthesia associates are being deployed in the NHS. Here’s what it will examine and when it will be published.

After a long-running and at times acrimonious debate over medical associate professional (MAP) roles in the NHS, this week the health secretary acknowledged “legitimate concerns over transparency for patients, scope of practice, and the substituting of doctors” and announced an independent review.
