Gambling industry tax will pay for NHS addiction services

The NHS is set to gain £100 million for treating gambling addicts after the imposition of a new tax on the industry.

The government said it is pressing ahead with a compulsory levy on gambling businesses after many failed to pay into a voluntary scheme. Some businesses have made token contributions to the levy of just £1, officials say.
