Gender but not race shift in specialty selection – new analysis

Female applicants for specialty training posts are, overall, more successful than male, according to a major new analysis which also highlights continuing lack of success by ethnic minority candidates.

The study, based on 2021 to 2022, found that 37% of women were successful in their applications compared with 29% of men. Disabled applicants also had high success rates in most specialties.
