Government admits to missing paper prescribing target

The government will miss its target to eliminate paper prescribing in hospitals and replace with digital or e-prescribing across the entire NHS by 2024, MPs have warned.

It has accepted that “more work is needed” to achieve its commitment, following a report by the Health and Social Care Committee’s independent expert panel. It says the missed target is in part due to poor digital maturity and available funding.
