GP workload reduced under contraceptive pill plan

GPs will see fewer patients needing contraceptive prescriptions, under NHS plans that allow millions of women to access the free pill on the high street.

Starting next month, women in England can obtain a first prescription of the pill by visiting their local pharmacy.
