GPs say doctor’s note requests for sick schoolchildren is ‘increasing problem’

GPs have raised concerns over schools requesting a doctor’s note when children are absent due to a minor illness like a cold.

This practice places unnecessary pressure on the NHS and is an inappropriate way to improve school attendance levels, doctors have said.
