A jury has retired to consider its verdicts in the trial of a plastic surgeon accused of attempting to murder his colleague by stabbing him after pouring petrol inside his home.

Prosecutors allege that Peter Brooks, a 61 year-old consultant surgeon specialising in burns and plastics who has denied the charges against him, cycled to Graeme Perks’s house in Halam, near Southwell, Nottinghamshire, wearing camouflage gear before knifing him in the abdomen in the early hours of 14 January 2021.
