More GP visits before cancer diagnosis for patients from ethnic minority groups - analysis

Age, ethnicity and living in a deprived area can all impact how many times a patient sees their GP before getting a diagnosis of cancer, a report has found.

Data put together for the Quality Watch report suggests that on average one in five people had three or more visits to their GP before being diagnosed with cancer, but this rose to one in three for people of mixed, Black or Asian ethnicities.
