Private hospital use will have ‘limited impact’ on NHS backlog

Private hospitals can only play a limited role in reducing NHS waiting times, a study published today has concluded.

The Government’s Elective Recovery Taskforce has been told to redouble efforts to cut waiting times by making more use of independent sector providers (ISPs). This has been backed by the shadow secretary of state, Wes Streeting, who has also called for ISPs to be used.
