‘Safety gap’ for patients with sensory impairments using medication – report

Patients with sight and hearing impairments are placed at risk by safety issues when taking medicines and using medical devices, the Patient Safety Commissioner has warned.

These problems can impact the more than 2 million people living in the UK with sight loss and 18 million adults who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus, a report commissioned by Professor Henrietta Hughes concluded.
